I love this idea, Zane. I worked on a similar internal data product at AWS to measure, report, and remediate data quality defects across the CRM domain. We created a data quality markup language (DQML) for both on-the-fly scanning (e.g., in Salesforce on page load) and bulk scanning of the data warehouse. The reporting mechanism (AWS QuickSight) showed data defects by business rule and many other attributes. The nice thing about the QuickSight dashboard was that it showed data quality improvements, or not, over time. It also showed the impact of implementing data quality improvement mechanisms.

Great Article! Brings back memories of the work at Maxim. The ER project was awesome! Solved so many issues on an ongoing basis. Just what the Data Dr. Ordered.
